We are proud to house a new customs trainee

Published 9 december 2022

Ntex is proud to house a new customs trainee. We are now part of the 1-year program for customs trainees, a collaboration between NHO LT, NAV and a host company, to train customs officers.

Valuable for the candidate and valuable for NTEX
By attending the trainee program, the customs traineel will, through a combination of work practice, mentorship and professional instruction, gain the knowledge and practical skills needed to carry out the customs-related tasks we need in our company, says Operation Manager at NTEX AS, Thormod Bjørnland.

After completing the program, the candidate will have solid customs expertise. The profession is undergoing major changes, with requirements for the automation of customs processes, an increasing degree of controlling and advisory tasks, and also new certification scheme, in accordance with new competence standard for customs representatives, so employees with solid and up-to date knowledge are worth their weight in gold.

Cooperation with NAV
NHO LT, several member companies, and now also we in NTEX, have since 2018 collaborated with NAV to recruit more candidates for the trainee program within the group of young workers. There are many good candidates within this group who do not necessarily make it through ordinary job interviews, but thorough agreements like this are given the opportunity to present themselves, so that a host company can find the right candidate for their particular business.

New experience for all of us
It’s exciting, says Feryal, who previously worked in industrial production, but has now seized the opportunity to gain a completely new, and sought-after expertise. Everything is new, both the profession and working in an office, smiles Feryal.

And it is also new for NTEX and our customs officer Simen Pettersen, who has the role of mentor for our trainee, “here we have to learn and develop together, both trainee, mentor and other employees who will naturally contribute to a trainee’s working day” says a content mentor.

One thing is for sure, we at NTEX are very happy to have Feryal join the team, and look forward to following her development in the coming year.
