Notification of strike at the Port og Gothenburg, 6th to 11th July
Published 3 juli 2023
The Dockworkers' Union in Sweden has announced a strike from the 6th to the 11th of July.
In light of this, DFDS has canceled all routes from Belgium to Sweden this week. Many freight forwarders and carriers heavily rely on the traffic flow through the Port of Gothenburg, especially for goods originating from France, Spain, BeNeLux, and the UK.
This also applies to us at NTEX. Even if the strike does not occur, significant delays in the transportation of goods are expected in week 27 and likely to continue into week 28. We are working to find alternative solutions, but the cancellation of sailings from Belgium to Sweden will have significant capacity implications for most transportation solutions from Europe to Norway and Sweden.
If you have planned shipments in week 27 and 28 that cannot tolerate delays, we kindly request you to contact us so that we can explore alternative solutions.
Unfortunately, this falls under the framework of force majeure, which means that any additional costs incurred by the strike will have to be passed on.
At NTEX, we are closely monitoring the situation as the consequences over the next two weeks will be extensive. We will keep you updated as we receive more information
